BIOTOPE brings a greenhouse and a solar power plant together in one adaptive structure. Its intelligent envelope design regulates light, produces electricity and hot water, and recovers water for reuse — creating a productive habitat for plants and a decentral energy source for the world around it.
Close to series production. Seeking investors and licensing partners.
Sunlight makes plants grow. It also brings heat — often more than a greenhouse can use.
BIOTOPE puts that abundance to work. Movable solar lamellae regulate the light reaching the plants and generate electricity from the sunlight they intercept. Air channels carry heat to a water circuit. Moisture released by the plants is recovered and returned for reuse.
Rotating solar lamellae adjust shading as conditions change. Plants receive the light they need, while surplus sunlight becomes a source of energy.
The same lamellae that protect plants from excessive sunlight also produce solar electricity — combining crop protection and power generation within the same surface.
Air warmed by the solar lamellae rises through the double envelope. A heat exchanger transfers that warmth into stored hot water for use in the BIOTOPE or a neighbouring building.
Water vapour released by the plants is condensed at a cooled heat exchanger and collected for reuse. Night-time cooling supplies stored cold water, with solar-powered supplementary cooling when needed.
Sensors coordinate lamellae, flaps and water circuits as light, temperature and humidity change. The system adjusts to the conditions outside and the needs inside.
The shape of the envelope puts natural air movement to work: warm air rises, cool air falls. At night, the envelope releases heat towards the sky. These physical effects are part of the design itself.
BIOTOPE grew from decades of work with solar energy, lightweight structures and the question of how natural physical processes can perform more useful work with less technical complexity. Today, Infinite Sun is turning that principle into working hardware.

Jürgen
Physicist Jürgen Kleinwächter co-founded the pioneering solar technology company Bomin Solar in Lörrach together with his father, Hans Kleinwächter, a physicist and specialist in aerospace technology and robotics. Drawing on broad expertise in electronics, mechanical engineering, thermodynamics and physics, Bomin Solar developed into an internationally recognized research and development company and a creative hub during the early years of the solar age. The work on multifunctional solar greenhouses that began during this period became one of the foundations for today’s bionic BIOTOPE concept. Jürgen is pleased to contribute his decades of experience and technical expertise to a young and ambitious start-up. He sees significant long-term potential in Infinite Sun and its approach to combining solar energy, biological systems and intelligent engineering.
